Digital Geospatial Products

There are a variety of digital geospatial products that provide specific types of information. After understanding a project’s particular needs, we guide you to the products that will offer the most value. If a project requires high spatial accuracy, we use the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)* equipment to create geospatial products boasting horizontal and vertical accuracy of a few centimeters.

Product Descriptions

Orthomosaics

An orthomosaic is a geometrically correct aerial image. It is a raster data type when integrated into a Geographic Information System (GIS). Orthomosaics typically comprise the visual bands of light (red, green, & blue), but they can also contain other bands such as near-infrared, which is invisible to the human eye. Orthomosiacs enable distance and area measurements. Analysis of the spectral characteristics of orthomosaics can lead to uses such as providing a basic aerial view, stand counts for agriculture, and change detection.

Digital Surface Models

(DSM)

A digital surface model (DSM) is a raster data type that contains height data in its pixels instead of spectral information. A DSM contains all height information of an area, including structures and vegetation.

Digital Terrain Models

(DTM)

A digital terrain model is a raster data type that contains height data in its pixels instead of spectral information. A quality DTM contains only height information of the bare earth. The term digital elevation model (DEM) is sometimes used synonymously with DTM.

Colorized Point Clouds

Colorized point clouds contain points with known XYZ spatial values and color information. This data type can often saturate end-users with too much information. However, we use the latest software and techniques to extract only the critical information from these point clouds, making them more user-friendly in CAD software.

Contour Map

A contour map is a vector data type that shows the change in elevation at certain intervals of a specific area.

Triangular Irregular Network

(TIN)

A TIN is a continuous representation of a surface using triangles. This data type is easily imported into CAD software and can be a starting point for project planning and design.

Vectorization

Vectorization is the general process of taking critical components of an area of interest and transforming them from a raster data type to a vector data type. Instead of pixels with color information, lines define essential features. This process preserves the scale of a map’s information while drastically reducing file size.
